Success!

Our healthier Junk Food Day was a great success! I received tons of compliments from everyone. Not one complaint or even critique of how to do something differently! This is obviously NOT everyday fare, but it was quite fun to be able to make our 'worst' food day a very good for us day!!
Our potato chips, fried in organic beef tallow turned out great. They were too much work to do on a regular basis for this size family. Not that even chips fried in good fat should be eaten on a regular basis;-)

See how nice they look. Crispy and salty!

Everyone was anxiously waiting to dig in. Boy, when you have a big family it looks like a party!

The 'dogs' in the BBQ sauce were very, very good. I was happy with the BBQ sauce, though I think I might tweek it a bit. It is hard when the only sauce you know is sickeningly sweet with HFCS or chemicals. But, if this was all I could ever have, I would be thrilled.

The 'cheese ball' I made for Brian was delish! He loved it.

The homemade Almond Crackers were unbelievable to me! The children LOVED the Summer Sausage and Snack sticks from U.S. Wellness Meats. (just don't tell them they are made from good for you organ meat!)

Elijah enjoyed his first healthy "Junk Food Day" (last year he was too little)

We all enjoyed our delicious home brewed Ginger Kombucha, or 'ptcha' as Elijah affectionately calls it!
We finished the night off with a Christy video, which ALWAYS makes me cry!
It was a dreamy New Year's Day! Family, memories and good food.

Mmm, these treats all look delicious! I have a weakness for homemade chips- they taste way too yummy. We only make them for a treat as well- they are a lot of work!
I'm glad you and your family had a lovely day, hope you have a happy New Year!
