Today marks the beginning of 2010 – a new year – a fresh start – a clean slate. For certain, each day, even each moment, we have a “fresh start” with God. For me though, I just love the first of the week, the first of the month, the first of the year!
I always start the beginning of the year with a long special time with the Lord (Thank you so much honey), a new journal and a heart full of hope and expectation.
I glance back at the past year and worship Him for all He has done. I am able to declare boldly –

Jehovah Shammah – the Lord is there!
Then I turn my focus to the coming year, ripe and bursting with possibilities! I’m like an excited little child waiting to open a present on Christmas morning. Journal, pen and bible in my lap, I come before His throne to seek His face; His heart for this coming year. I usually have lots of ideas I lay before Him, but mostly my goal is to listen. I want to hear what my Master, my Lord has to say to me.
It’s different every year. Some years I walk away with some grand plan. Sometimes it’s just one word, one scripture that is to be my focus.
The more I grow in the knowledge of my Father’s infinite wisdom, His complete sovereignty, and His perfect love, I can only be excited with what the future holds. I no longer cringe a bit if the thought of suffering or pain in the New Year comes to my mind. For I know that nothing can touch my life that has not come through His hands first, and that ALL things work together for His glory and my good.
I can be excited for the future because I know He is good and loving and merciful!
Spend some time praising and worshiping Him as you reflect on His goodness this past year. Then seek His face, sit in His presence, listen to His voice – Glory in His presence!
To Him Who is seated on the throne and to the Lamb be ascribed the blessing and the honor and the majesty (glory, splendor) and the power (might and dominion) forever and ever (through the eternities of the eternities)
(Revelations 5:13)
For this God is our God forever and ever; He will be our guide [even] until death.
(Psalm 48:14)
