Suppose, for just a moment, that the Lord came to you in a dream, as He did Solomon and asked you, "What shall I give you?"
In Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream by night. And God said, Ask what I shall give you? (1 Kings 3:5)What would your answer be?

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from Thy presence, and take not Thy Holy Spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of Thy salvation, and uphold me with Thy free spirit.
Isn't this just wonderful! To know that we CAN actually come boldly before the throne to ask God for our heart's desires is awesome!
What I will ask for (and know I can obtain through Christ) is to learn/want to love others more/better; to know how to love those sand-paper people in my life with Christ's love)
A greater and deeper love for God and His word. More purity of heart. Greater rest in Him. More gentleness.
WISDOM in my mothering, homeschooling, homemaking. A greater love for God and a heart like His.
To be deliriously in love with my husband, and he with me, until the day we meet Jesus.
My usban was teachng about Solomon in Sunda School a couple of weeks ago. Before his lesson, he asked me this question. Solomon didn't ask for money--he asked for wisdom, so God gave it to him.
Solomon's strength also became his weakness, as Satan tempted him to build temples to false gods for Solomon's wives.
Gosh, I wish I could say I'd ask for noble things like you guys. As a 29 year old single gal who's lived alone for 7 1/2 years, the deep cry of my heart is "Lord, please give me a family!"
I truly desire to have a husband and kids that I could live with and minister to for years and years...
{{{Anna}}} That is an incredibly noble request!! One of the noblest, I believe. May the Lord grant you your request and your heart's desire!
Michelle,
Oh my goodness, thank you for your kindness. I was actually back to check the blog to see if anyone had said anything... pathetically, it was a 'I wonder if anyone even cares' moment. (You'd be amazed how much it wears on you to come home to an empty apartment day after day after day... you feel so alone and forgotten).
Your final comment immediately made me think of Hannah in 1 Samuel, one of my favorite stories. Isn't that what Eli said to her right before she went home and got pregnant with Samuel?
Thank you so much for your blessing!!! It meant a lot to me tonight. :-)
Like Anna, I feel mine should be nobler, like asking for a pure heart and unfailing servantude for my Lord, but the first thing that popped into my head was that I would ask Him for another child. I still have that yearning for another. Yet, I am learning to be submissive towards my husband when he says repeatedly that we are done. I'm continuing in asking the Lord to work in our hearts. Either take away this desire from mine or change my husbands heart.
