Monday's Blog Party Post. . . . . . .Spiritual Encouragement

Welcome ladies to the Titus 2 Blog Party

Today's topic is Spiritual Encouragement

Each day this week you will have an opportunity to win a mini-give-away! All you have to do is leave a comment answering that day's question and I will enter your name in the random drawing announced the following morning.

If you have read my blog at all I hope it has been made clear that Jesus Christ is the center of my life. I love Him, serve Him, obey Him (as best I can ;-)) The most important thing in my life is my relationship with Him.

A daily quiet time is so important to me and I love to encourage others in their quiet time. When you have a chance, here are some of the posts about Quiet Times.

Recommended Resources:

  • A Bible you love! I absolutely love my Amplified Bible. (I love lots of words!) I am on my second one and I cherish it greatly!

  • Streams in the Desert by L.B. Cowman; edited by James Reimann

  • Springs in the Valley compiled by Mrs. Charles E. Cowman

  • "My Utmost for His Highest" Oswald Chambers

  • All things Andrew Murray

  • Come Away My Beloved by Frances J. Roberts

  • Practice of the Presence of God by Brother Lawrence

There are so many other books and devotionals that have spoken to me over the years, this is just a few.

The Streams in the Desert and Springs in the Valley probably would have meant little to me in my early years as a Christian. It took some serious heartaches and sufferings to really appreciate the comfort and message they provide. At least for me anyway...I was so arrogant and clueless in those early years!

It is nearly impossible for me to pick one favorite verse. I LOVE the Word of God! I probably would have to choose the very first verse I felt the Lord speak to me. You know, that thrilling time when you realize for the first time that the God of Universe is speaking to you?!

Isaiah 41:9-16

You whom I [the Lord] have taken from the ends of the earth and have called from the corners of it, and said to you, You are My servant--I have chosen you and not cast you off [even though you are exiled].
10Fear not [there is nothing to fear], for I am with you; do not look around you in terror and be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen and harden you to difficulties, yes, I will help you; yes, I will hold you up and retain you with My [victorious] right hand of rightness and justice.(
C)
11Behold, all they who are enraged and inflamed against you shall be put to shame and confounded; they who strive against you shall be as nothing and shall perish.
12You shall seek those who contend with you but shall not find them; they who war against you shall be as nothing, as nothing at all.
13For I the Lord your God hold your right hand; I am the Lord, Who says to you, Fear not; I will help you!
14Fear not, you worm Jacob, you men of Israel! I will help you, says the Lord; your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel.
15Behold, I will make you to be a new, sharp, threshing instrument which has teeth; you shall thresh the mountains and beat them small, and shall make the hills like chaff.
16You shall winnow them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the tempest or whirlwind shall scatter them. And you shall rejoice in the Lord, you shall glory in the Holy One of Israel.

Your turn...the question of the day is...

What is your favorite or life verse?

Must be answered by midnight tonight.

Look for the winner's name in Tuesday's post!

Have a lovely day!

Michelle,

I Col.1:10-14 Is one of my favorite passages!
"So that you may walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all power; according to His glorious might, for the attaing of all steadfast patience; joyously giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the Saints in Light. For He rescued us from the dominion of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son in whom we have have redemption, the forgiveness of sins!!!
Blessings,
Dea
P.S.
I am REALLY enjoying your playlist. Great Songs you chose!

I know it's a bit generic, but one of mine is Mark 12:29 - 31

29"The most important one," answered Jesus, "is this: 'Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one.[a] 30Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.'[b] 31The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'[c]There is no commandment greater than these."

It's hard to narrow it down but I like this one:
Isaiah 26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

Thanks for the devotional recommendations.

Hi, Michelle,
One of my favorite verses as a new Christian was Micah 6:8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what [is] good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?
I didn't know God, and was worried about what He would require of me. He used this verse, assuring me that He had my best, truest interests at heart. He required of me only that which is good for me.

One of the first verses that ever just popped out of the bible and grabbed hold of my heart was this one:
Ephesians 4: 29-32
There is an awful lot to put into a comment so I will let y'all look it up at will.
I find I can turn to that anytime I am struggling with something and that verse will pretty much lay it all out on the line for me. If my struggle doesn't line up with those words than I know I need to change my ways to where God would have me.

Good Morning Michelle and fellow party~goers,
Romans 8:28 has become my "life verse" so to speak.
"And we know that to them that love God all things work together unto good: to such as, according to His purpose, all are called to be saints."
I'm still working on the "becoming a saint" part. But God has proven to me time and again over these last few years, especially- that he can and will bring good out of everything if I let him.
God Bless.

From childhood Isaiah 6:8 has been my life verse:

Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, "Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?" Then I said, "Here am I. Send me!"

I remember every time a different missionary would come to our church while I was growing up that I thought to myself, "oh, that's where God wants me to go!" There were times when I tried to sinfully force my way in one direction or another, but God faithfully preserved me and showed me the path that He had laid out for me. And now my family is serving Him in Russia! I pray daily that God will help me to obey Him and continue to follow His calling.

Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

I've been going through a personal transformation period in my life. This scripture speaks to me because it's the mind that has to be transformed first. The enemy attacks through our thoughts. If he can get our mind, then he has gotten the body to sin. I have to renew my mind daily to keep myself renewed with a fresh blessing of glory.

Not conforming to this world is something I've been working on in my life. My manner of dress, speech, walk, character, motherhood, homemaking etc. all show that I am the daughter of a king. I die daily to the struggles to resist the pulls of this world. But by the grace of God I'm still standing on His word! I work hard to be in the forefront of the battlefield that wages war against my precious family. The devil is a liar, he will not have my husband or my children. I'm constantly working on creating an atmosphere of praise and worship for my family.

BE BLESSED LADIES!!

Wow Ladies, This is so awesome! Thank you all for sharing your comments and verses! I am so blessed to be reading them as they come in. And I should let you in on a secret, my whole family has been praying about and for this party and we are wowed at what the Lord is doing. My husband said this morning that the idea of this party didn't really hit him until today reading all the comments about God's Word! We are so humbled and thankful that His name and His Word is being proclaimed! So thank you for sharing!

Dea, I loved these verses, it truly is my desire to 'walk in a manner worthy of the Lord' and I pray this so often for my husband and children. Thank you.

Muthering Heights, These are so great to live by, if you get these, I think you get what you need to. Love God, Love others! Nuff said! Thanks.

Lady Jen, this verse has been very important to me lately. Oh to keep my mind stayed on Him everyday ALL day! Thank you.

Joyce, thank you for sharing...walk humbly with thy God...wonderful!

hip chick, we recently memorized these verses. I think they are so crucial! Thank you for sharing.

Karinann, thank you for sharing this verse. I think this is probably at least one of the most comforting and assuring verses! Don't forget you are a saint in His eyes!

Cristylynn, Isn't so cool how God plants that desire so young and how precious to see it being fulfilled. Thank you.

Buildeth Her House, You nailed your description of this verse. This speaks to me especially today, as I was just seeking the Lord about changes in my life that need to take place and I remembered it needs to start with my mind. Thank you.

JESUS WEPT.

This scripture came to mind. During so much of my life I had a stiff upper lip.
Did my best to be tough and avoid being overly emotional.
Through some extremely tuff times in my marriage, I learned to weep.

It touches my soul when I think that Jesus is full of compassion and wept.

So for today, a favorite verse would be
John 11:35
Jesus wept.

Thank you Michelle for your blog,
Deanna from the Kansas Flinthills

I John 3:2-3
Beloved, we are God's children now, and what will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him because we shall see him as he is. And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure.

I love the promise of purification in my daily life, where I don't always feel like I'm making progress!

isaiah 65:24 is my fav verse. And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear. this tells me taht God is always ahead of me, working things out and taking care of business so to speak. He gives help before i even know i need it!

Zephaniah 3:17 "The Lord your God is with you, He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing."

Such comfort and encouragement. To know that the God of the universe is singing over me... wow. Enough said.

One of my favorites is Romans 1:16 I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.

I've gone through periods in my life where I've not spoken up. This reminds me that I should speak up for myself and for those who still need to hear.

Matthew 25:23 "His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord."

This verse is a constant reminder of what I should be doing so that God says this to me!

Bethany Hudson said...

Well, not to be cliched, but John 3:16... And, I have also always loved 1 John 4:19: "We loved because He first loved us."

In our age, "love" has been so modified, neutered, even mutated that we have to be purposeful about remembering what love really IS. God is love. He showed His love for us in the person of Jesus Christ. And, we are able to love BECAUSE He first loved us.

Deanna, Jesus Wept! that is great. I love our Jesus.

Lindsay, it works better for me to keep my eyes on this truth, because when I look at me, not so good :-) thank you

tami, I love the concept of God going before us. This has been made very real to us just recently.

Josh and Kelly You are right, enough said. It is so comforting.

Cynthia, this was good. I am so bold on the inside, but sometimes I wimp out and sometimes the Holy Spirit shuts my immature mouth up :)

Bella Mama, I love this reminder, don't we all want to hear "well done, good and faithful servant"

Bethany, very good. thank you. You are so right about what has happened to the concept of love. We would do well to remember God is Love!

busymomof10, great verses, thanks for sharing

Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

When the demands of all the littles seem unending, when I begin to feel the guilt that I'm spread to thin to meet their needs, when the "to do" list is longer than the hours in the day, He is there to hold me up and see me through!

Great question! That is a toughy! I have so many verses that I hold so close to my heart which change due to circumstances in life. So to choose just one is a struggle. I am always up for a good challenge, so I will step up to this one as well. :0) I would have to say that one that I have carried with me most would be:
Isaiah 43:2-4a

When you pass through the waters I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overcome you;
When you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.
FOR I AM THE LORD YOUR GOD THE HOLY ONE OF ISRAEL, YOUR SAVIOR.
I give Egypt as your ransom, Ethiopia and Se'ba in exchange for you.
Because you are precious in my eyes, and honored, I love you.

(capitolized by me)

This verse has always been sweet to me. I reminds me that we will go through high waters and fire in our life. When we do, we do not need to fear. God is there. I love that!

Well, I'm late in answering this. Didn't realize you could click on "encouragement" and stuff. I'll answer anyway, even though I cannot be entered in the day's drawing.

My favorite lifetime verse is James 5:17-18, "Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit."

I love the passage because it shows that we are just as special to God as the O.T. and N.T. saints mentioned in the Bible. Elijah was "a man like us." We have the same privilege of praying like Elijah did and having our prayers answered. Hallelujah \o/.
