by being dependable by showing up each sunday, even when it may be hard, to encourage the body. I have found that there is NO PERFECT church. It is about the assembling of the saints and admitting to my Lord we have the discipline to take a few hours out of my week to show my sincerity by aligning with a local body. We dont have to agree on each and every tiny detail but I feel that for us we need to have this weekly encouragement to remember the vision of why we do what we do. I am thanking the Lord for a new small local body to assemble for a few hours a week with.
Currently we home church and one way I think that I could help strengthen it is to come along side Brian more as he leads us. I sometimes just 'show up' so to speak, instead of helping and encouraging our gathering more. (sorry honey) He is so faithful and sometimes I'm just too distracted and let him do all the work.
It is so precious when we all 'show up' with the right heart. The Holy Spirit totally moves in all that we share. Lots of times each child comes with a 'word' from the Lord that speaks to all of us. Even our seven year old shares things she gets in her quiet time. The Lord is so good!
One other thought, praying for unity and purifying of the church might be useful.
Pray for everybody, ask God for direction as to how to help our ladies, call ladies on the phone more often to see how they are doing (we have a small church).
Our group is relatively small, but this offers huge opportunity to get to know other ladies better. I'm not an extrovert, so I have to consciously work at being friendly and genuine at the same time.
I need to properly manage our home so my husband is free to be able to focus on his studies and duties to the congregation.
Seems as though the more I work at spending time in effective, God-centered prayer, the more I realize how much I still need to work at it.
Civilla, how many ladies do you have in your church? From all different age groups? I think calling on them to see how they are doing is so sweet. Don't we all just sometimes want to know people care enough to check?
Heather, I sometimes feel like I am failing when Brian has to help so much, though he assures me this is what he loves to do and is laying his life down for me,but still, I can't help thinking "If only I could do more..." so he could be more effective, even with our own family. Learning to trust God with the season we are in while striving to be all I should be.:) Thanks for your comment
