Back To Blogworld

Hi Ladies! Last week was a wonderful week of rest and reflection for me. It was busier that I had planned, but lovely none the less.

One thing I did learn for sure, I missed you all! I did not check one blog, which was a challenge at times. I missed hearing from you and knowing how you are doing. Is that crazy? I mean we are talking about women I have never ‘met’ in real life.;-)

I am curious about what your Easter celebration looked like. What traditions do you have? What types of foods do you eat? Have you ever celebrated Passover?

We have celebrated a Messianic Passover in years past and it was both beautiful and powerful! I would highly recommend doing this at least once. There are many wonderful resources available. It can be as simple or elaborate as you like. I tend to go overboard, of course. We try to include all of the children in the readings and preparation. One year we led up to Passover by each day experiencing the Ten Plagues. That was a blast. If you are interested, I can share some of the ideas and pictures.

Our traditional food every Easter with Brian’s family is Fresh Polish Kielbasa, ham sandwiches with the best rye bread ever, horseradish and pickles, and my husband’s favorite potato salad. It is extremely important to coat both pieces of ‘best ever rye bread’ with butter, then a thick layer of horseradish, pickles and then ham. Mmmmmmm, so good!

My dad usually has Kielbasa also, as he is Polish too, but he likes to change things up, so this year we had wet burritos for Easter. Go figure.
I would love to hear about your traditions and foods.

  1. I took a week off last week too. For me, it seems strange to be back online... My fingers don't even type as well.

Thank you for sharing your Easter celebration with us. We are still establishing our traditions, but we had a wonderful day yesterday!

  2. Oh, the Polish Kielbasa sounds like a great Easter dinner! Would you believe, I forgot to buy anything for Easter. We had my younger son's roommate home with him from college. I ended up making chicken divan (a broccoli-rice-chicken-mushroom-cheese casserole), baked beans, lemon cake, and bread. It turned out really good!

  3. A sunrise service, an Easter brunch at church, the Easter service, then dinner with the entire family - those are the main traditions.

  4. Michelle-
We did not do anything spectacularly different. Saturday my mother in law had a Resurrection Celebration. She planned games for all the grandchildren, hid eggs, and played clips of old family movies.
Sunday- here in Texas was dark- and a terrible storm blew through with tornados and everything, but our hearts were rejoicing! We even lost power temporarily during our church service.(which was interesting) By 2 or 3, the Lord spread the clouds, and the sun shone brilliantly, making everything look even brightier than before.

I would love to see a post on your passover plans, what you did, and photos. We plan on doing that next year.
May the blessings of our Lord Jesus shine upon you.

  5. Welcome back! I've missed you :-)
This year was the first year I attended a sunrise service on Easter Sunday. What a blessing! My children are too small to get them out that early so I attended alone then came home to get the rest of the family ready for Sunday School and Worship. We then went to my mom and dad's home for Easter Dinner. It was a blessed day!

  6. We celebrate Passover every year and have been so blessed by it! I'm with you about missing people when I don't blog for a little while. I usually check other's blogs about once a week, but I sure do miss checking up on everyone when I miss a week! Glad you had a restful week, and I'm glad your back!
